My Unforgettable Experience at the 2024 World Roasting Championship
Copenhagen, 2024.
My heart was pounding when I stepped into the World Roasting Championship room.
I, Emanuele Tomassi, was there, surrounded by the greatest roasters in the world, each ready to give the best of themselves.
The road to get here had been long and challenging, but the time had finally come to demonstrate what I had learned.
Preparation and Difficulty
Preparing for an event of this magnitude requires absolute dedication.
I spent months studying every single aspect of the roasting process: from the selection of the finest green beans to the calibration of the machines, every detail was fundamental.
I have had the opportunity to work with advanced technologies such as the LINK sampler and the Stronghold roaster, tools that, although complex, have allowed me to explore new frontiers in coffee roasting.
One of the biggest challenges was adapting to these new machines.
Their precision requires an expert hand and a careful eye.
But with determination and practice, I managed to master them, exploiting each of their characteristics to improve the aromatic and flavor profile of my coffee.
The Competition
The competitive moment was intense.
The judges, eminent figures in the coffee world, watched my every move, ready to evaluate the quality of my work.
Every step, from roasting to tasting, had to be perfect. I felt the pressure, but also the emotion of being there, of representing Italy and showing the world my passion.
My presentation was received with enthusiasm.
The positive feedback from the judges was a confirmation that my efforts were paying off.
Coming in sixth place was an incredible achievement, especially considering the extremely high level of competition.
I would have liked to win, of course, but being among the top six roasters in the world is an immense honor.
Reflections and Acknowledgements
This achievement would not have been possible without the support of the people who have been close to me.
My family, colleagues, and all those who believe in my work have played a fundamental role in this adventure.
Their trust and encouragement gave me the strength to keep going, even in the most difficult moments.
Participating in the World Roasting Championship was a life-changing experience.
He taught me the importance of dedication, perseverance and passion for what you do.
I have learned that every challenge is an opportunity to grow and improve.
This is just the beginning of my journey into the world of specialty coffee.
I am determined to continue exploring, innovating and sharing my passion with the world.
